Uzbekistan, India Prepare Iron, Coal and Copper Projects

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and India are preparing new joint projects to develop iron and coal deposits and explore for copper, while the two countries also plan to sign a cooperation agreement, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Mining and Geological Industry Bobur Islamov told O’zbekiston 24 television.

According to Islamov, major Indian businesspeople and representatives of scientific institutions have arrived in Uzbekistan, bringing expertise that could support the introduction of innovations in the sector.

“Together with them, studying the opportunities we have, we are developing new projects. This is a very great opportunity for us, and I think we will make full use of it,” Islamov said.

The minister said the two sides intend to implement new projects involving the development of iron ore and coal deposits, as well as copper exploration.

He noted that India has extensive experience in the ferrous metallurgy sector and is one of the world’s largest producers of ferrous metals.

“Using this, we proposed that they develop prospective areas,” Islamov added.
