Uzbekistan Electricity Generation Rises 3.1% in Five Months
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Total electricity generation in Uzbekistan for January-May 2026 amounted to 36,167.3 million kWh, increasing compared to the 35,064.2 million kWh recorded during the same period last year, the National Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Statistics reported.
At the same time, the structure of production changed: generation by large enterprises decreased to 24,812.5 million kWh against 26,316.5 million kWh a year earlier, while the volume of electricity produced by small business entities rose to 11,354.8 million kWh from 8,747.7 million kWh, reflecting an increasing role of small business in the country's energy sector.
The production of thermal energy by large enterprises for January-May 2026 declined to 8,429.8 thousand Gcal compared to 10,211.4 thousand Gcal a year earlier.
