Uzbekistan Installs First Panel in Voltalia Agrovoltaics Project

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The practical phase of an innovative agrovoltaics project combining renewable energy and agriculture has officially launched in Uzbekistan. A solemn ceremony marking the installation of the first solar panel was held at the Research Institute of Vegetable, Melon Crops and Potatoes.

The event was attended by senior representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Energy, and the National Center for Knowledge and Innovation in Agriculture, alongside a delegation from the French company Voltalia CA led by CEO Robert Klein.

This initiative is being implemented as a pilot project with a total value of US$900,000.

The program involves the installation and commissioning of solar panels with a total generating capacity of 500 kW. During the official meeting, the participants analyzed the current status of construction and installation works in detail, discussed the technical parameters of the equipment, and reviewed the prospects for scaling this technology across other regions of the republic.

Following the talks, the parties secured commitments to ensure the full and final launch of the facility in August 2026.

After the symbolic start of the installation process at the project site, the heads of the departments and their foreign partners joined an environmental campaign. Voltalia CEO Robert Klein and his Uzbek colleagues planted ornamental trees on the grounds of the research institute, highlighting a commitment to the principles of sustainable development and environmental protection during the execution of energy programs.
