Uzbekistan and TAF to Expand Public Procurement Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Agency for Industrial Cooperation and Public Procurement of Uzbekistan and the international organization The Asia Foundation (TAF) have discussed prospects for cooperation in improving the public procurement system, strengthening institutional capacity, and developing interaction between science, education, and industry.
The meeting took place on 30 June 2026 at the Agency for Industrial Cooperation and Public Procurement. The Director of the Agency presented information on the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan aimed at improving the public procurement system, developing industry, supporting science and innovation, and strengthening human capital.
Representatives of The Asia Foundation, in turn, familiarized the Uzbek side with the organization's activities in the countries of Asia and the Pacific region, its priority areas, and its ongoing programs.
During the negotiations, the parties paid special attention to issues of increasing transparency and integrity in public administration and the public procurement system, introducing advanced international experience in preventing corruption, and applying modern management approaches.
Furthermore, the meeting participants discussed the organization of educational programs, advanced training courses, trainings, and seminars, as well as mechanisms for exchanging experience involving international experts to strengthen the institutional capacity of government bodies and specialists in the field of public procurement.
A separate topic of the negotiations focused on opportunities for implementing joint initiatives within the framework of US Department of State programs aimed at developing cooperation between universities, research institutes, and industrial enterprises, introducing the results of applied scientific research into production, supporting technology transfer, and developing the innovation ecosystem.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to develop practical cooperation in the designated areas, implement joint projects to strengthen institutional capacity, and continue a constructive dialogue.
