Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov held substantive talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates of the Arab Republic of Egypt Badr Abdelatty.

The head of Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry expressed deep appreciation to the Egyptian side for the warm reception and hospitality extended to the Uzbek delegation in Cairo.

The sides noted with satisfaction that bilateral relations are developing on an upward trajectory, based on mutual respect, trust and shared strategic interests.

During the open dialogue, the ministers confirmed their mutual interest in further intensifying political dialogue at both the highest and high levels. Special attention was given to practical aspects of economic cooperation.

In particular, the discussions focused on prospects for expanding trade, economic and investment partnership, mechanisms to stimulate direct contacts between business communities of the two countries, and opportunities to significantly increase joint business projects.

A substantial part of the meeting was devoted to an exchange of views on key issues of international and regional stability.

The Uzbek side highly appreciated the consistent efforts of Egypt’s leadership aimed at ensuring long-term peace in the Middle East.

Following the talks, the sides expressed strong confidence that close and trust-based cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries will continue to serve as a solid foundation for strengthening multifaceted practical engagement.

The parties also signed a series of documents aimed at further strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding mutually beneficial relations.

The document is intended to systematize and organize the schedule of inter-ministerial contacts, political consultations and joint diplomatic initiatives in the medium term.

In addition, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Information and Analytical Center for International Relations (IACIR) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and the Institute of Diplomatic Studies under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt.
