Uzbekistan, EBRD Discuss Expansion of Investment Partnership
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 16 April, on the sidelines of the 2026 Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, a meeting was held between Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov and President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Odile Renaud-Basso.
During the talks, the sides reviewed priority areas of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
Special attention was given to expanding public-private partnership mechanisms, including the development of projects in social infrastructure and public utilities. An agreement was noted to continue cooperation on improving project preparation quality and implementing international financing standards.
The discussions also covered financial sector reform and transformation, including improvements in corporate governance within the banking system, acceleration of privatization processes, and strengthening institutional capacity.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their readiness to further deepen cooperation and expand engagement in new areas.
