Uzbekistan discusses textile cooperation with Afghanistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Uzbekistan is conducting an official visit to Afghanistan from 18 to 21 May 2026, during which issues related to the development of cooperation in the textile industry are being discussed, according to the results of the visit.
The delegation includes representatives of the Agency for the Development of Light Industry under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Uztekstilprom Association, and leading enterprises in the sector.
A series of official meetings and negotiations were held in the provinces of Balkh and Kunduz, focusing on prospects for industrial cooperation, including deep processing of cotton, yarn production, fabric manufacturing, and finished textile goods.
During the visit, meetings were held with the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Balkh Province, Ibrahim Ghazanfar, the Deputy Governor of the province, Nurilkhodi Abu Idris, as well as the management of Balkh Textile Factory and Durakhshon Group.
The parties discussed the establishment of modern textile enterprises and cotton ginning plants, the implementation of joint production projects, the introduction of advanced technologies, and the modernization of production facilities.
Opportunities for expanding the production of export-oriented finished goods were also considered. It was noted that the implementation of joint initiatives would contribute to strengthening trade and economic ties, creating new jobs, and increasing the export potential of the textile industry.
