Uzbekistan Detects 744 Cases of Post-Harvest Field Burning

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan has recorded 744 cases of fires on agricultural land cleared after the wheat harvest since the beginning of 2026, the Ecology Committee said.

According to the committee, violations related to post-harvest field burning are being identified using aerospace data. To help prevent such incidents, regional departments sent 7,760 warning letters to farms.

Monitoring activities were carried out by regional Ecopolice units. Following the processing and analysis of satellite imagery provided by the Uzbekcosmos agency, authorities identified fires on agricultural land cleared after grain harvesting.

State inspectors conducted on-site inspections in every identified case. As a result, 172 violators were held administratively liable. The total amount of fines imposed reached 212.5 million soums.

The environmental damage caused by the identified violations was assessed at 652.3 million soums.

The Ecology Committee also said that preventive and enforcement measures aimed at stopping the burning of stubble, dry leaves, branches, other plant residues and construction waste in fields and populated areas uncovered 9,821 violations.

Administrative proceedings were initiated in accordance with established procedures in all cases.
