Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) —  According to the Global Peace Index 2025, Uzbekistan has improved its standing, ranking 67th out of 163 countries, positioned between Moldova and Cyprus. Compared to last year, the country moved up two spots.

In the Central Asian region, Kazakhstan remains the leader at 56th place, followed by Kyrgyzstan (78th), Tajikistan (79th), and Turkmenistan (87th).

The index assesses the level of peacefulness based on three groups of indicators: societal safety and security, domestic and international conflicts, and the degree of militarization.

It is noted that the global level of peacefulness continues to decline: the average score in 2025 fell by 0.36%, while factors preceding major conflicts remain high.

The ten most peaceful countries in the world are Iceland, Ireland, New Zealand, Austria, Switzerland, Singapore, Portugal, Denmark, Slovenia, and Finland.

Russia ranks last, while other countries with the lowest levels of peacefulness include Ukraine, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Yemen, Afghanistan, Syria, South Sudan, Israel, and Mali.
