Uzbek Think Tanks Discuss Industrial Productivity Growth
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Institute for Macroeconomic and Regional Studies (IMRI) under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan hosted a training seminar on boosting the productivity of industrial enterprises, according to IMRI. Specialists from 14 leading national think tanks participated in the event.
Participants examined practical methods for evaluating enterprise performance directly on site, including mapping production processes to identify resource losses and operational inefficiencies. Special attention was given to the Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP) approach developed by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). Experts also reviewed techniques for minimizing waste and defects using Lean Management, Six Sigma, and 5S methodologies.
The seminar included discussions on refining enterprise environmental management to meet new global requirements for international market entry. In particular, participants analyzed the role of ISO 14001 and ISO 14064 standards alongside product compliance requirements, such as CE marking.
Following the event, attendees were advised to apply these methodologies during enterprise evaluations within their respective research organizations' assigned sectors and regions, using the resulting data to formulate targeted recommendations for operational efficiency. The participants also agreed to establish regular inter-institutional collaboration to exchange methodological materials and practical experience.
