Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Tashkent Metro is working to reduce intervals between trains and improve passenger conditions as daily ridership has exceeded 1.2 million people. In 2026, the metro acquired and put into service 14 modern train sets, the Toshkent Metropoliteni joint-stock company reported.

The statement was issued in response to social media posts describing passenger inconveniences caused by overcrowding in the metro.

According to the company, an average of 280,000–300,000 people used the metro each day in 2021. By 2026, daily passenger traffic had exceeded 1.2 million.

The company said it continues to take measures to manage passenger flows efficiently, ensure safe train operations and improve passenger comfort. The use of new train sets is expected to improve service quality and gradually shorten the intervals between trains.

In the coming days, Toshkent Metropoliteni plans to hold a press conference for media representatives. The company intends to provide detailed information about train operations, passenger flow management and measures being taken to address passenger inconveniences.

Media representatives will be able to ask questions of the officials responsible. The date, time and venue of the press conference will be announced separately.
