Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev plan to attend the G20 summit scheduled for December 2026 in Miami, United States. Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu made the announcement following a meeting with the Uzbek president.
Nurtleu said the participation of the two countries’ leaders in the summit was one of the key topics discussed. He thanked the Uzbek side for its hospitality and noted that the United States attached considerable importance to Mirziyoyev’s visit and participation in the event.
During the meeting, Mirziyoyev said relations between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan had reached an entirely new level. Representatives of the two countries, he noted, regularly hold talks on various areas of cooperation.
“Today, there is not a single week when our Uzbek and Kazakh colleagues do not meet to discuss various areas of cooperation. This is undoubtedly a major achievement and a solid foundation for our partnership,” the Uzbek president said.
He also stressed that the two sides discuss even the most complex issues and work together to find solutions. Amid a complicated and unstable international environment, Mirziyoyev said, it is particularly important to address emerging challenges jointly and strengthen closer ties among Central Asian countries.
Mirziyoyev previously received an invitation to attend the G20 summit. In March 2026, US President Donald Trump sent him a letter inviting the Uzbek leader to the Group of Twenty meeting in Miami and to the next meeting of the Board of Peace.
