Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan has launched a national training programme to prevent workplace harassment, violence and discrimination, beginning with a four-day training course for future trainers in Tashkent from 19 to 22 October.
The National Programme for Ensuring a Safe and Respectful Working Environment was launched on 15 October at an event led by Robakhon Makhmudova, chairwoman of the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan, and Nozimakhon Davletova, adviser to the head of the Presidential Administration.
The programme is being implemented in accordance with Presidential Resolution No. PP-345 of 21 September 2026 and Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 518 of 28 September 2026.
Training is being delivered by the Agency for Management Efficiency under the President of Uzbekistan and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), with financial support from the UK government and assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The initiative is coordinated and overseen by the Project Office for Human Capital Development in the Civil Service under the Presidential Administration.
The sessions are led by practitioners who combine teaching experience with hands-on work on issues related to workplace harassment and violence.
The trainers are familiar with the challenges faced by employees, victims, managers and human resources departments. Through practical case studies, participants will learn how to prevent violations, handle complaints and protect the rights of those affected.
The programme draws on international experience while taking Uzbekistan's social context into account and emphasising values rooted in national traditions, including respect for people, their honour and dignity. Its aim is to embed these values in everyday workplace relationships through clear rules of conduct and accountability.
The first training course is intended for human resources specialists, university lecturers and representatives of regional non-governmental non-profit organisations. It will mark the beginning of a nationwide programme of systematic training.
The trainers who complete the course will pass their knowledge on to colleagues, helping make a safe and respectful working environment a routine standard across the country.
