Uzbekistan, China Review New Railway Project Progress
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's Transport Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov met with Wang Jinxi, a board member and Deputy Chairman of China State Railway Group, to discuss bilateral transport cooperation and progress on the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway project.
During the talks, the two sides said construction work is proceeding in line with the approved schedule.
The participants underscored the project's strategic importance for the development of regional transport corridors, increasing international freight volumes and strengthening trade and economic ties.
Particular attention was given to enhancing the attractiveness of the existing multimodal transport corridor linking China with Uzbekistan through Kyrgyzstan.
The parties also discussed improving logistics processes and the possibility of granting Kashgar border station export status.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides agreed to regularly monitor the progress of the railway's construction, further expand practical cooperation and continue close coordination across all areas of the transport sector.
