Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Fergana Region expects to increase its annual investment volume from US$2.7 billion to US$4.5 billion by the end of 2026, with local authorities prioritizing high-value-added projects. Regional Governor (Khokim) Khayrullo Bozorov announced the target during an inauguration ceremony for new facilities attended by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on 25 August 2026.

Bozorov highlighted that investors from 35 countries are currently operating in the region. Saudi Arabia has initiated projects following direct presidential instructions, while companies from Türkiye, Japan, Europe, and the United States are also expanding operations.

The regional leadership has adjusted its strategy for attracting capital, moving away from accepting indiscriminate investment proposals toward focusing on project quality and local value creation. "We now tell investors that we require turn-key projects with high added value," Bozorov said, emphasizing the creation of conditions for cluster-based development.

As an example of the new approach, the governor cited a US$30 million project by South Korea's Hansae Mobility. Implemented in two phases, the facility will produce automotive components for General Motors, replacing localized imports that currently total US$40 million annually.

In the Dangara district, a US$170 million manufacturing complex for modern building materials is currently under development. The project's first phase—backed by an initial US$20 million investment—has already been launched, with an additional US$150 million allocated across two subsequent phases.

The new facilities formed part of a nationwide series of project launches on 25 August 2026 ahead of the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence, which saw 72 major industrial and service initiatives alongside 91 social sector projects brought online.

Commenting on Fergana's development, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted structural transformations across the region's districts and shifting local perspectives. The president stated that rising public expectations reflect a broader civic awakening, requiring regional administrative efforts to continuously realign with these growing demands.
