Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The first phase of the Sangardak tourism complex has been commissioned in the Sariosiyo district of the Surxondaryo region, according to the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan. Featuring 37 operational tourism infrastructure facilities, the complex includes a cable car capable of accommodating up to 800,000 tourists annually.

The broader development plan for the Sangardak tourism center encompasses 152 individual projects with a total estimated value of US$76 million. The newly launched first phase includes guest houses, bungalows, chalets, restaurants, traditional shade structures (aivans), a zipline, swings, and other visitor services.

A central feature of the facility is a 1,535-meter cable car built by Austrian manufacturer Doppelmayr Seilbahnen GmbH, which has officially entered service.

To support the resort area, utility infrastructure development included the installation of 14 kilometers of drinking water supply lines, 4.2 kilometers of sewerage networks, and 3.2 kilometers of electrical power lines. Construction also involved three water reservoirs and eight transformer substations, alongside asphalt paving for 4 kilometers of access roads and associated transport infrastructure.

The commissioning of the project's initial phase was held on the eve of the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence.
