Uzbekistan Introduces 30-Day Visa-Free Entry for Indians
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan will introduce a 30-day visa-free regime for Indian citizens, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced during talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Tashkent.
The announcement was made during Modi’s two-day state visit to Uzbekistan. According to Mirziyoyev, the introduction of visa-free travel will make a significant contribution to strengthening people-to-people contacts, tourism and business exchanges between the two countries.
The main points of the president’s statement to the media were also published by presidential press secretary Sherzod Asadov on his Telegram channel. He specified that the visa-free regime will be valid for 30 days and will contribute to further increasing mutual travel between Uzbekistan and India.
During the talks, Mirziyoyev described India as a “reliable strategic partner” and highlighted the growing momentum in bilateral relations, including an increase in trade, the number of joint ventures and connectivity between the two countries.
The Uzbek president said cooperation between Uzbekistan and India had reached a new level as the two countries established a comprehensive strategic partnership. The sides also agreed to create a separate mechanism at the level of foreign ministers to implement the agreements reached and develop a comprehensive roadmap.
Mirziyoyev said bilateral trade increased by 33% last year, exceeding US$1.3 billion. The two countries aim to raise trade turnover to US$5 billion by 2030.
