Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis approved a draft law introducing amendments and additions to the Law "On Veterinary Medicine" in its third reading and forwarded it to the Senate for consideration, the press service of the lower house of parliament announced.

The bill provides for establishing the core principles of state policy in the field of veterinary medicine, clarifying the powers of the Food Safety Committee, and improving the coordination of activities among state, departmental, production, and private veterinary services.

During the preparation of the document for its second and third readings, special attention was paid to improving legal norms regulating the production, processing, storage, transportation, and sale of products subject to state veterinary control.

In addition, provisions aimed at aligning sector terminology and legal norms with national legislation and World Trade Organization requirements were included in the bill.

According to deputies, the adoption of the law will contribute to the further development of the veterinary and veterinary-sanitary safety system, increase the transparency of veterinary service activities and the efficiency of control in this sector, and harmonize legislation with international standards and World Trade Organization rules.
