Uzbekistan Approves Support Measures for Military

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has been presented with a report outlining measures to strengthen social support for military personnel, improve the reserve and officer training system, and prepare for the observance of 9 May, the Day of Remembrance and Honor.

The report detailed ongoing efforts to enhance the combat readiness of the armed forces, including the development of combat training systems and the introduction of new approaches to personnel education.

Regular strategic and command-staff exercises, field training sessions, and military drills are being conducted across the armed forces. Particular attention is being paid to strengthening the moral and psychological resilience of service members, improving their ability to operate under stress, and enhancing decision-making in real combat conditions.

Based on analysis of modern military conflicts, new operational methods are being introduced into training programs, aimed at improving unit mobility, combat effectiveness, and autonomy in mission execution.

A separate part of the discussion focused on preparations for the Day of Remembrance and Honor, which is widely marked across the country each year.

This year, it was proposed to provide a one-time payment of 30 million UZS to participants and disabled veterans of the Second World War. Additional measures are also planned, including commemorative events honoring war and labor veterans, improving housing conditions for elderly and vulnerable individuals living alone, and providing support to families of those who died in the line of duty during the independence period.

Nationwide activities will include spiritual and educational programs, patriotic events, meetings between generations, cultural evenings, competitions, and sports events held under the motto “Duty, Courage, Resilience.”

The report also addressed measures to further develop the reserve officer training system.

At present, training is conducted in 42 specialties at military training centers and faculties within civilian and military universities. To expand the system, it was proposed to establish five additional military training centers, including at universities in Urgench, Termez, and Andijan, as well as at the Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service and the Andijan State Medical Institute.

In addition, a three-year bachelor’s program in “pre-conscription military education” is planned, along with officer training in modern fields such as artificial intelligence, unmanned systems, and robotics. New curricula will be developed based on international experience.

Special attention was also given to social protection for servicemen. It was proposed to double monthly allowances for Ministry of Defense officers based on length of service, and to increase by 10% the salaries of contract soldiers and sergeants.

The President endorsed the initiatives, noting that their implementation will strengthen the social protection of military personnel and their families, as well as enhance the attractiveness of military service.

Following the discussion, relevant decisions were approved and necessary documents were signed.
