Uzbekistan approves Eid al-Adha public support program
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree on additional state support for the population ahead of Eid al-Adha.
The document is aimed at providing medical and social assistance to the most vulnerable categories of citizens and provides for funding in the amount of 690 billion soums through the charitable public foundation “Vakf”.
Medical assistance
Under the decree, expenses for medical examinations, surgical operations and treatment will be covered for three categories of patients. Surgical operations will be carried out for 10,000 children with severe and disabling diseases. Medical examinations, treatment and surgical interventions will be provided to 2,300 patients with oncological, hematological and onco-hematological conditions. At least 350 patients will undergo liver and kidney transplantation.
The list of diseases and medical institutions where assistance will be provided will be determined by the Ministry of Health. Oversight of treatment standards will be carried out by the State Medical Insurance Fund.
Support for children
The decree provides for a cash transfer of 200 US dollars to savings accounts of children from socially vulnerable groups. These include orphans and children deprived of parental care under guardianship, trusteeship or foster care; children in “Mehribonlik” homes, family-type children’s homes, small children’s homes and SOS Children’s Villages; children of parents who died in the defense of the homeland; and children receiving treatment at the “Taskin Children’s Hospice” pediatric oncology hospital.
Improvement of mosques and cemeteries
In addition to targeted assistance to citizens, the decree approves the construction, reconstruction or repair of modern sanitary facilities in 500 mosques, as well as the improvement of local cemeteries. Volunteer charitable activities will also be organized for the improvement of holy sites, mosques and cemeteries, along with festive gatherings for socially vulnerable groups.
Implementation arrangements
Territorial councils will be established in the regions to coordinate improvement and charitable activities under the leadership of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regional governors and the mayor of Tashkent.
Responsible officials for implementation of the decree include Deputy Prime Minister J.A. Kuchkarov, Presidential Adviser and Director of the National Agency for Social Protection M.P. Allayarov, Head of the Department for Religious and Enlightenment Affairs of the Presidential Administration M.M. Kamilov, and Minister of Health E.E. Adilov. Overall control of implementation is assigned to Prime Minister A.N. Aripov.
The National Information Agency of Uzbekistan, together with the National Television and Radio Company, has been instructed to ensure broad coverage of the decree in mass media, online platforms and social networks.
