Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Tashkent authorities are considering extending public transport services into the evening on 20 bus routes.
Under a resolution adopted by the Tashkent City Council of People's Deputies, relevant agencies have been instructed to assess the possibility of operating services on these routes from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. by 1 December.
The initiative covers 15 main routes and five connecting routes linking residential areas with metro stations, the airport, railway stations and bus terminals.
The routes under consideration are:
- Route No. 1: Karakamish-2/4 residential area – Mustaqillik Maydoni metro station;
- Route No. 14: TTZ bus terminal – Northern Railway Station;
- Route No. 18: Urikzor Market – Chorsu Shopping Centre;
- Route No. 21: Karakamish-2/4 residential area – Chilanzar metro station;

- Route No. 131: Dustlik-2 residential area – Karakamish-2/4 residential area;
- Route No. 147: Chinni Market – Chorsu Shopping Centre.
The proposal envisages evening bus intervals of 15–20 minutes. Departure times would be displayed at bus stops and in mobile applications, while a dispatch service would monitor compliance with the schedules.
The resolution notes that public transport services in the city decline significantly after 9 p.m., with fewer buses operating and some routes ceasing service altogether. According to the document's authors, this makes it more difficult for residents to travel and constrains economic activity in the evening and at night.
A final decision on extending operating hours will be made after transport authorities assess their capacity to provide the additional services.
