Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and the United Nations are holding three-day national consultations to strengthen the protection of vulnerable facilities and critical infrastructure against terrorist threats. The consultations began on 14 October 2026 at the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan.
The event is being held under the 2026–2027 cooperation roadmap between Uzbekistan and the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT).
The consultations are organised by UNOCT in partnership with the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan, the State Security Service and the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Participants include representatives of law enforcement agencies, relevant ministries and government departments, as well as specialists from strategic enterprises.
Experts from UNOCT and the UN Security Council’s Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate are delivering lectures and sharing best practices in critical infrastructure protection.
The discussions cover operational and technical measures to protect critical facilities, prevent terrorist attacks and strengthen the readiness of responsible agencies to respond to threats.
The consultations are expected to produce practical recommendations for improving existing protection mechanisms in line with Uzbekistan’s national needs.
