Uzbekistan and South Korea Expand Cooperation on Labor
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea have agreed to expand cooperation in labor and employment, including modernization of the labor inspection system, introduction of digital monitoring tools, and strengthening protection of workers’ rights.
The relevant talks were held between Marat Juraev, First Deputy Minister of Poverty Reduction and Employment of Uzbekistan, and a delegation from the Korea Labor and Employment Service (KLES) led by Secretary General and Director General Park Jong Pil.
During the meeting, the sides discussed a wide range of issues related to improving national labor inspection mechanisms. Particular attention was paid to adopting international experience in occupational safety, improving the qualifications of inspectors, and developing digital systems for monitoring compliance with labor legislation.
Another key topic was the protection of workers’ rights in the informal employment sector, which remains one of the most sensitive areas of the labor market. The parties exchanged approaches to improving oversight and working conditions in this segment.
At the conclusion of the talks, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the parties. The document provides for policy consultations, expanded practical cooperation, and the implementation of joint projects aimed at modernizing the labor inspection system and strengthening bilateral cooperation in employment.
