Uzbekistan and Qatar Discuss Expansion of Economic Partnership

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev held a meeting in Tashkent with Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade Ahmad bin Mohammed Al-Sayed.

The parties discussed the development of bilateral economic cooperation, attraction of long-term investments, modernization of infrastructure, and strengthening confidence among international investors.

It was noted that political relations between Uzbekistan and Qatar are at a high level, but current economic indicators, despite a more than 30% increase in bilateral trade in 2025, do not fully reflect the potential of the partnership.

The sides emphasized the need to move toward the implementation of practical projects and to expand investment cooperation. Priority areas identified include the participation of Qatari investment institutions in projects in Uzbekistan, development of infrastructure and the financial sector, as well as cooperation within the framework of the “New Tashkent” project.

Prospects for expanding aviation and logistics connectivity were also discussed, along with the development of the agro-industrial complex and strengthening cooperation in food security.

Special attention was paid to the investment agenda and the creation of conditions for Uzbek companies to enter foreign markets, including countries in the Middle East and Africa.

Following the talks, the parties agreed to continue work on translating the reached agreements into concrete projects and structured negotiations.
