Uzbekistan and Meta Discuss Digital Economy and AI Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov held a meeting with representatives of Meta to discuss key areas of digital economy development, platform regulation, and the introduction of new technologies, the Ministry of Digital Technologies said.

The meeting was attended by Meta’s Head of Public Policy for Central Asia and Sri Lanka Senura Abeywardena, and the company’s Regional Public Policy Manager for Central Asia and Mongolia Yerasyl Kalikhan.

The talks focused primarily on the regulation of digital platforms and the application of international experience in digital governance. The sides also discussed prospects for the development of Uzbekistan’s digital economy and the expansion of technological cooperation.

A separate part of the discussions addressed the development of digital skills among young people and strengthening competencies in the field of artificial intelligence. The participants reviewed approaches to improving knowledge and training specialists for the digital sector.

The meeting also covered issues of online safety, including the protection of young users in the digital environment, implementation of awareness-raising programs, and the development of joint initiatives in the framework of public-private partnerships.

Following the talks, the sides identified priority areas for further cooperation, including support for innovation and the startup ecosystem, expansion of institutional collaboration, and exchange of expert knowledge between the parties.
