Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Deputy Minister of Health of Uzbekistan Otabek Imamov held a meeting with a delegation led by the Director of Malaysia’s Medical Device Authority (MDA), Murallitharan Paramasua, during which the sides discussed prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation in the field of medical devices.

The Malaysian authority, a state body responsible for regulating medical equipment circulation and implementing international standards in this sector, presented its experience in quality control and medical device safety. The sides considered opportunities to adapt best practices in Uzbekistan.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on the arrival of a group of Malaysian experts to Uzbekistan later this year to provide practical technical assistance to local specialists. It was also discussed that Uzbek specialists would be sent to Malaysia to study advanced international experience.

The cooperation is expected to enable Uzbek professionals to become familiar with modern approaches to registration, certification, and quality control of medical devices, as well as strengthen the practical application of international standards in the national healthcare system.
