Uzbekistan and Iran discuss trade and transit expansion
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bakhromjon Aloev met with Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Trade and Economic Affairs Hamid Ghanbari in Tehran on 17 August 2026, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.
The two officials discussed the further development of trade, economic, and investment cooperation, as well as the expansion of transport and transit links between the two countries.
During the meeting, the sides reviewed the current status and prospects of bilateral trade and economic interaction. Special attention was paid to increasing mutual trade volumes and diversifying the range of goods supplied between Uzbekistan and Iran.
The officials also discussed measures to activate contacts between the business communities of both nations and advance joint investment cooperation.
Transport and transit interaction formed another key focus of the negotiations. The participants examined ways to enhance the efficiency of existing transport routes and create favorable conditions to boost freight traffic between Uzbekistan and Iran.
