Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Iran held a round of political consultations between their foreign ministries in Tehran on 17 August 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.

The talks were led by Uzbekistan's First Deputy Foreign Minister Bahromjon Aloev and Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi.

Delegations discussed the current state and prospects of Uzbek-Iranian relations, alongside measures to strengthen political dialogue and expand practical cooperation.

Particular attention was given to trade, economic and investment cooperation. The two sides also addressed the development of transport and transit connections and the expansion of cultural and humanitarian exchanges.

Representatives of Uzbekistan and Iran reviewed cooperation within international and regional organizations and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Following the consultations, both parties confirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation and maintaining a regular political dialogue between their foreign ministries.
