Uzbekistan and EU Discuss Digital Transformation and Connectivity
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov held a meeting with Charlotte Adrian, Head of the Central Asia and Afghanistan Unit of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA), along with representatives of the European Union Delegation to Uzbekistan.
During the talks, the parties discussed the development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union in the fields of digital transformation, telecommunications infrastructure, and the expansion of modern communication services in remote regions of the country.
Special attention was paid to the progress of a regional project under the European Union's Global Gateway initiative, which is aimed at developing modern telecommunications services in hard-to-reach areas of Central Asia and Uzbekistan.
The sides also reviewed methods to increase the project's efficiency, improve its mechanisms, coordinate financial and technical aspects, and accelerate its practical implementation.
In addition, the meeting participants exchanged views on the development of digital infrastructure, satellite communications, and regional digital integration between the European Union and Uzbekistan.
