Uzbekistan and EDF Discuss Energy Project Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and French energy company EDF have discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in the country’s energy sector during talks held on 15 May.

The negotiations were conducted by Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade Akram Aliyev and EDF representatives for Central Asia Yves Barlier and Pierre-Paul Antonissen.

EDF, one of the world’s largest operators in electricity generation, transmission, and distribution, has extensive experience in nuclear energy, renewable energy development, and the modernization of energy infrastructure.

During the meeting, the parties focused on opportunities to expand generating capacity in Uzbekistan, modernize existing energy infrastructure, and introduce advanced technological solutions aimed at improving sector efficiency.

The sides also discussed prospective investment projects and areas for long-term strategic partnership, including improving the reliability of energy facilities and expanding cooperation in sustainable energy development.
