Uzbekistan and China Expand Agricultural Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The 6th meeting of the Subcommittee on Agriculture between Uzbekistan and China was held in Beijing, where the sides discussed a new phase of bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector.
The Uzbek delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Agriculture Alisher Shukurov, while the Chinese side was represented by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Zhang Zhili, along with officials from relevant agencies.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on key areas of cooperation. Particular attention was given to the development of seed production, the introduction of high-yielding and climate-resilient crop varieties, as well as the expansion of breeding and genetic research.
Veterinary cooperation was also discussed, including disease prevention, development of new vaccines, modernization of diagnostic and monitoring systems, and strengthening of laboratory capacities.
The sides further addressed issues related to land degradation, soil fertility preservation and efficient water resource management. In this context, they emphasized the importance of introducing innovative agricultural technologies, resource-saving methods, digital monitoring systems and agro-ecological solutions.
In the scientific and educational sphere, initiatives were proposed to expand joint research, enhance cooperation between academic institutions, develop agricultural education and improve professional training. Special focus was placed on youth training and the implementation of both short-term and long-term educational programs.
Following the meeting, the two sides agreed to develop a roadmap outlining concrete measures for the practical implementation of the agreements reached and for further expansion of agricultural cooperation.
