Uzbekistan's insurance premiums totaled 8 trillion soums in the first half of 2026 — up 28.6% year on year. Payouts to policyholders grew far faster, reaching 2.3 trillion soums, up 80.9%. Market overview
Thirty-five insurance companies operate in the market, seven of them in life insurance. Insurers' combined statutory capital rose 37.2% to 4.3 trillion soums. The number of licensed insurance agents rose to 3,951, up 14.8%. Twenty-five companies remain members of the payout guarantee fund.
Premiums and payouts: general insurance still leads
General insurance accounts for 93% of all premiums (7.49 trillion soums, +28.1%) and 96% of payouts (2.16 trillion soums, +82.6%). Life insurance accounts for 7% of premiums (524.8 billion soums, +36.6%) and 4% of payouts (96.6 billion soums, +49.8%).
Payouts are growing faster than premiums, narrowing the ratio between money collected and money paid out from roughly 5:1 to 3.6:1 over the year.
Where insurers are investing
Insurers' combined investments grew 28.8% to 10.7 trillion soums. Deposits remain the largest component, with their share rising from 60.9% to 65.1% of the portfolio. The shares of securities and equity stakes in enterprises both declined.
Market leaders
By premiums in general insurance, Apex Insurance leads with 2.07 trillion soums, followed by O'zbekinvest, Kafolat Sug'urta, Kapital Sug'urta and My-Insurance. In life insurance, Apex Life Insurance leads by a wide margin, with 407.8 billion soums.
By payouts in general insurance, Apex Insurance again leads, with 926.9 billion soums — more than triple the year-earlier figure. In life insurance, Apex Life Insurance leads, with 76 billion soums.
Regions: the market is concentrated in the capital
Tashkent city accounts for 82% of national premiums and 88% of national payouts. Among the regions, excluding the capital, Fergana, Tashkent and Samarkand regions lead by premiums; Fergana and Tashkent regions, along with Andijan region, lead by payouts.
