Uzbekistan and Brazil Expand Agricultural Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and Brazil have agreed to expand cooperation in agriculture, livestock, and the food industry following talks between senior agricultural officials from both countries, officials said.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Qahramon Yuldashev met with a Brazilian delegation led by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Augusto Billi to discuss the development of bilateral agricultural partnership.

The sides reviewed the current state of cooperation and identified priority areas for future collaboration, noting that expanded engagement in the agricultural sector creates additional opportunities for both countries, including technology exchange and joint project development.

Special attention was given to agricultural biotechnology, seed breeding, the introduction of modern climate-adapted farming technologies, and the expansion of joint scientific research. The parties also discussed measures to simplify procedures for quarantine and phytosanitary certification.

Following the talks, the sides agreed to prepare and sign a bilateral document aimed at strengthening cooperation in training, knowledge exchange, and improving the regulatory framework in agriculture.

An additional agreement was reached on cooperation with the Brazilian agricultural research institute EMBRAPA Soja in the field of crop breeding and the development of drought-resistant varieties, as well as on organizing exchanges between specialists from scientific centers in both countries.

The Brazilian side invited the Uzbek delegation to participate in an international livestock exhibition scheduled for 4–6 August 2026.

Both sides confirmed their intention to prepare concrete proposals and accelerate the practical implementation of the agreements reached.
