Uzbekistan and Belarus Discuss Genetic Technologies
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A delegation led by the Khokim of Tashkent region, Zoyir Mirzayev, discussed prospects for cooperation in genetic technologies, science, and biotechnology with the Director of the Institute of Genetics and Cytology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Lyudmila Makarina-Kibak.
During the meeting, the parties reviewed opportunities to develop joint projects in the field of human genomics, as well as the step-by-step implementation of a "Personalized Medicine and Genetic Passport" system in the Tashkent region.
The negotiations were held in a constructive and friendly atmosphere. The meeting participants focused on areas of interaction that could contribute to the development of innovative solutions and the expansion of scientific cooperation between the parties.
One of the key topics was ensuring agricultural sustainability in the context of climate change. As a scientific solution to the problems of declining crop yields associated with water shortages and soil salinization in the Tashkent region, it was proposed to implement joint projects to study the genomics of agricultural crops that are resilient to climate change.
In addition, the parties discussed issues regarding the scientifically grounded development of animal husbandry.
Following the negotiations, the participants confirmed their readiness to combine scientific potential, modern technologies, and practical developments to implement promising research and development projects.
