Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) have discussed prospects for infrastructure projects aimed at supporting economic growth and business development.

The meeting between Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, Jamshid Kuchkarov, and AIIB President Zou Jiayi took place on 15 October 2026 in Bangkok on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. The meeting was reported by the Information Service and Communications Department of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Economy and Finance.

Participants also included Konstantin Limitovskiy, AIIB Chief Investment Officer for the Public Sector, Nodirbek Ochilov, Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, Jasur Karshibaev, an adviser to the Minister of Economy and Finance, and other representatives.

The parties reviewed Uzbekistan’s macroeconomic trends, economic development priorities and opportunities to expand cooperation with the bank.

The main focus was on transport and energy infrastructure. Discussions covered roads and railways, logistics corridors, electricity transmission networks, water supply and digital infrastructure.

Participants said that developing these areas would improve transport connectivity, expand business opportunities and create conditions for producing higher-value-added goods.

The parties also considered prospects for developing roads through public-private partnerships, improving rural infrastructure and modernising general education schools.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to expand cooperation, develop new initiatives and intensify the exchange of views on the areas discussed.
