Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Afghanistan discussed further cooperation in transport and transit and agreed to take measures to improve working conditions for national carriers. The talks were held in Kabul on 26 July between Uzbekistan’s Transport Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov and Afghanistan’s Minister of Transport and Aviation Muhammad Fazil Mazlum, Uzbekistan’s Transport Ministry said.

The sides discussed the development of road transport between the two countries, creating more favourable conditions for national carriers and optimising fees charged to Uzbek carriers in Afghanistan.

Following the meeting, the sides agreed to hold the next meeting of the Interagency Working Group by 10 August 2026 to discuss reducing fees and setting them on a parity basis.

The sides also agreed to hold a separate meeting in the near future with representatives of relevant Afghan agencies. Its aim will be to promptly resolve issues arising in the operations of national international carriers.

The agreements are expected to contribute to the development of international freight transport between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan and create more favourable logistics conditions for businesses in the two countries.
