Uzbekistan-Afghanistan business forum advances trade projects
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A business forum and a series of B2B meetings between entrepreneurs from Uzbekistan and Afghanistan were held in Kabul, aimed at expanding trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, according to event organizers.
A delegation of more than 70 entrepreneurs led by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan is currently on a working visit to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
During the visit, representatives of the private sectors of both countries discussed prospects for implementing joint projects and developing business ties. At the opening of the forum, Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan S. Abdurakhmanov and representatives of the Afghan side presented proposals to expand cooperation and increase mutual trade volumes.
The main focus of the B2B meetings was on opportunities for cooperation in construction, agriculture and food industries, the electrical engineering sector, the textile industry, furniture production, pharmaceuticals, as well as personal care and cosmetics goods.
Following the negotiations, preliminary agreements and understandings were reached totaling US$75 million.
These agreements are expected to contribute to the expansion of trade turnover and the implementation of joint production initiatives between entrepreneurs of the two countries.
