Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The first 10 citizens of Uzbekistan have been selected for seasonal agricultural work in France under a pilot project with the National Federation of Agricultural Unions of France (FNSEA), the Migration Agency said.
The project planned to recruit 10 workers for employment in the Rhône and Maine-et-Loire departments. Applications opened in June, after which candidates underwent preliminary screening.
On 1 July, representatives of French employers held online interviews with applicants. Following the interviews, 10 future seasonal workers were selected.
Six participants have already obtained work visas and are expected to travel to France in August. They will be involved in fruit harvesting and sorting.
The remaining four candidates will travel to France in autumn to take part in seasonal vegetable harvesting.
The current group will be the first from Uzbekistan to be sent to France under an organised recruitment programme for seasonal workers.
The Migration Agency said the results of the pilot project could contribute to further expanding cooperation with French employers and creating new employment opportunities for Uzbek citizens.
