Two Killed in Traffic Accident in Tashkent Region
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A 39-year-old man and his five-year-old child died in a traffic accident in Tashkent region after their vehicle was forced off the road, according to the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Tashkent Region.
The fatal incident occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. on 15 August 2026 on the Korasuv–Buka–Bekabad highway. Video footage circulated on social media showed a Cobalt driver pulling into the oncoming lane on a two-lane road to overtake, creating an immediate hazard for an oncoming Spark vehicle.
The driver of the Spark lost control while attempting to avoid the vehicle, causing the car to veer off the road and overturn. The driver of the Cobalt failed to stop and continued driving following the incident.
Law enforcement authorities identified and detained the Cobalt driver, identified as 30-year-old Kh. A., on the same day.
Reports broadcast on the Millar program of the Milliy television channel confirmed that a 39-year-old man and his five-year-old child inside the Spark died as a result of the crash. An injured woman was hospitalized following the accident.
Authorities have opened a criminal case under Article 266, Part 3, Clause "a" of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, covering violations of traffic safety or vehicle operation rules resulting in human casualties. An investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing.
