Lab Aircraft to Conduct Scheduled Flights Over Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Scheduled flight checks of airport air navigation systems using a laboratory aircraft operated by the airline Avion will begin over Tashkent on 20 August 2026, according to the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan citing the Uzaeronavigation Center.
The flight inspections will continue over several days. Authorities have advised capital residents not to be concerned by the flights, emphasizing that they are part of a routine technical verification process.
During the testing, the aircraft may make multiple low-altitude passes over the same city districts at altitudes of approximately 1,000 meters.
The operations are designed to evaluate the performance and accuracy of local air navigation systems. The Uzaeronavigation Center established Avion as a specialized airline to inspect and calibrate airfield radio equipment, visual lighting systems, and execute special tasks.
To conduct these operations, the company acquired a Diamond DA62 MPP aircraft equipped with precision instruments to verify that air navigation systems comply with international standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Previously, Uzbekistan contracted aircraft from Kazakhstan to conduct similar technical inspections. Establishing its own specialized operator allows the country to carry out core air navigation checks using domestic resources.
