Tashkent Tightens Control Over Bus Air Conditioning

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Tashkent authorities have strengthened control measures over the operation of air conditioning systems in public transport following passenger complaints circulating on social media.

The move was prompted by reports of malfunctioning air conditioners on buses amid rising air temperatures.

The Main Department for Transport and Development of Road Transport Infrastructure of Tashkent reminded that on April 30, 2024, a directive letter had already been sent to carriers requiring uninterrupted operation of cooling systems in bus cabins when the outside temperature exceeds +28°C. The document was registered under number 1/E-410.

The agency noted that the state institution “Monitoring and Control of Passenger Transportation of the City of Tashkent” has now intensified inspection activities in public transport. Particular attention is being paid to the prompt response to passenger complaints and compliance with regulatory requirements by transport operators.

It was also emphasized that responsible officials have been instructed to ensure timely consideration of complaints and to take measures against carriers that fail to comply with established requirements.

In cases of violations, strict disciplinary measures and contractual sanctions will be applied.
