Tashkent Region Temporarily Closes Kindergartens Over Heat

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — All state, private and departmental preschool educational institutions in Uzbekistan's Tashkent Region have been temporarily closed from 16 July due to hot weather.

The decision was announced following a meeting chaired by Tashkent Region Governor Zoir Mirzaev, who instructed district and city administrations to suspend the operation of all preschool institutions.

Regional authorities said kindergartens would reopen after weather conditions return to normal. The regional administration will announce the reopening date separately.

Earlier, the Ministry of Preschool and School Education said decisions on the temporary suspension of preschool institutions are made independently by each region based on assessments by local branches of Uzhydromet, regional administrations and the sanitary and epidemiological service.

Similar measures had previously been introduced in the Khorezm Region, as well as in several districts of the Navoi Region and the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
