Tashkent Leads Uzbekistan in Population Density
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The city of Tashkent continues to lead Uzbekistan in population density among all regions of the country, according to data from the National Committee on Statistics.
As of 1 April 2026, there were 7,352.4 people per square kilometre in the capital’s territory.
The average population density across Uzbekistan stood at 85.5 people per square kilometre.
Among the regions, the highest population density was recorded in Andijan Region at 821.4 people per square kilometre. It was followed by Fergana Region with 627.8 people and Namangan Region with 430.9 people per square kilometre.
The top ten also included Khorezm Region (341.2), Samarkand Region (262.1), Sirdarya Region (222.1), Tashkent Region (209.6), Surkhandarya Region (150.5), and Kashkadarya Region (130.6 people per square kilometre).
Below the national average were Jizzakh Region at 74.3 people per square kilometre and Bukhara Region at 50.5 people.
The lowest population density was recorded in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and Navoi Region, with 12.4 and 10.2 people per square kilometre respectively.
According to the statistics, Navoi Region remains the least densely populated region in the country.
