Tashkent Beautification Chief Fined Over Labour Violations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The head of the Beautification Department of Tashkent’s Yakkasaray district has been held administratively liable after an inspection revealed violations of labour safety requirements during work conducted in extreme heat.

Earlier, the State Labour Inspectorate issued instructions to all district and city administrations requiring the suspension of outdoor beautification work from 10:00 to 17:00 if high temperatures posed a threat to workers’ health.

The inspection was launched after a video was published on social media showing beautification workers carrying out outdoor work during periods of extreme heat.

Following the inspection, the State Labour Inspectorate found that employees of the Yakkasaray district Beautification Department had not been provided with proper working conditions in accordance with legal requirements.

Due to the identified violations, administrative measures were applied against the head of the district department under Part 1 of Article 49 of Uzbekistan’s Code of Administrative Offences, which establishes liability for violations of labour and occupational safety legislation.

The article provides for a fine ranging from five to ten basic calculation units, amounting to between 2.06 million and 4.12 million soums.
