Samarkand Traffic Officer Fatally Hits 75-Year-Old Pedestrian

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A traffic safety officer in Samarkand hit a 75-year-old pedestrian while driving a Tracker patrol vehicle, resulting in the pedestrian’s death at the scene. A preliminary investigation into the incident is underway.

According to the press service of the Samarkand regional Traffic Safety Department, the accident occurred on Shabbod Street at around 18:15 on 21 July.

Preliminary information indicates that the traffic safety officer driving the official Tracker vehicle struck a 75-year-old man who was crossing the road outside a designated crossing area.

The pedestrian died at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Samarkand city is conducting a preliminary investigation into the incident.
