Tashkent Airport Customs Seize 34 kg of Drugs From Thailand

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Customs officers at Tashkent International Airport have intercepted an attempt to smuggle a large shipment of narcotic substances from Thailand, seizing about 34 kg of illegal substances from illicit circulation.

According to customs authorities, a transit route was organized to conceal the cargo's origin. Couriers traveled to Uzbekistan via Vietnam, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, and India to avoid direct connections with Thailand.

The baggage containing the illicit contents passed security checks at several foreign airports, with the drugs discovered only upon arrival in Tashkent.

Everyday consumer goods packaging was used to conceal the shipment. The prohibited substances were hidden inside packages of powdered milk and spices, jars of chocolate spread, and shampoo bottles.

Action by Uzbek customs officers prevented the attempt to bring the illicit shipment into the country.
