Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov held a roundtable in Tokyo with Takeshi Hashimoto, chairman of the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren), and executives of leading Japanese companies.
The sides discussed expanding economic cooperation and implementing new investment projects, Bakhtiyor Saidov reported.
Representatives of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Sojitz, All Nippon Airways, Shimizu, JETRO, Sumitomo, JBIC, Toyo Engineering, Toyota Tsusho, Marubeni, Mitsui, Mitsubishi and other major Japanese companies took part in the event.
The meeting focused on further developing Uzbek-Japanese economic cooperation. In particular, the participants discussed supporting the activities of Japanese companies in Uzbekistan and implementing new investment initiatives.
The participants considered opportunities to expand cooperation in energy, transport and logistics, infrastructure, agriculture and the textile industry.
The sides also discussed prospects for cooperation in digitalization and personnel training.
According to Saidov, the open and practical dialogue marked a step toward filling Uzbekistan’s cooperation with Japanese business with concrete projects and new initiatives.
