Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan will establish an Energy Investors Council to address obstacles facing energy projects, with Saida Mirziyoyeva, head of the Presidential Administration, appointed to lead the new body.

The announcement followed an open dialogue between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and investors operating in the country’s energy sector.

Mirziyoyev stressed that energy projects require substantial investment and well-developed infrastructure. Delays in allocating land, connecting facilities to electricity networks and issuing technical specifications can significantly slow construction and the commissioning of new facilities.

Representatives of major international companies, including ACWA, Datavolt, EDF and Voltalia, called for a permanent mechanism to address emerging issues promptly.

Mirziyoyev said the establishment of the council should make communication between investors and the president more direct and effective. He also acknowledged that bureaucratic obstacles and corruption remained problems that needed to be addressed.

“The council’s main task is to listen to you,” the president said, explaining that the new body was intended to prevent such obstacles and accelerate project implementation.

The council will consider investors’ problems at every stage of a project, from land allocation to the commissioning of completed facilities.

The president added that the work of the new body would remain under his constant supervision.
