Latvian businesses propose new logistics hubs in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport discussed transport and logistics cooperation with a delegation of Latvian businesses, including increasing transit traffic and making greater use of the transport and logistics potential of the two countries. The Uzbek Ministry of Transport reported this.

The meeting was held on 6 October. The Latvian delegation was headed by Evija Dumpe, a representative of the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in Uzbekistan.

During the talks, the sides discussed prospects for further developing transport and logistics cooperation between Uzbekistan and Latvia. Particular attention was paid to increasing transit traffic and making more effective use of the transport systems of the two countries.

Latvian entrepreneurs expressed interest in establishing new logistics hubs in Uzbekistan. Under their proposal, such centres could be used to organize deliveries of Uzbek products to markets in China and other Asian countries.

The sides also discussed the possibility of using Uzbekistan as a route for delivering cargo from Asian countries to markets in Latvia and other European countries.

During the meeting, the Latvian side also presented a number of proposals for developing cooperation in railway and air transport.

The parties discussed promising areas of cooperation related to the development of transport routes and expanding opportunities for freight transportation between Central Asia, Asia and Europe.
