Russian envoy visits Uzbek Foreign Ministry

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Uzbekistan Vladimir Tyurdenev paid a visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan on 20 June 2011.

The press service of the Uzbek Ministry said that the sides discussed actual issues of the Uzbek-Russian interaction in context of implementation of agreements, achieved during the meeting of the Uzbek President Islam Karimov and Dmitriy Medvedev on 13-14 June 2011.

Russia is the largest trade partner of Uzbekistan. Trade turnover between the countries grew by 55.9% from US$823.3 million in the first quarter of 2010 to US$1.284 billion in January-March 2011.

At the same time, the share of Russia in total foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan made up 22.4% in the first quarter of 2011.
